We can think of many advantages a digital force torque sensor has compared to an analog sensor.
Most important advantages are:
Low and predictable noise levels
Ready to use data
Temperature drift can be compensated
Harness and wiring minimization
No signal aliasing. Either it works or it doesn't.
Although a digital force torque sensor may come with many benefits, it is difficult to manufacture a reliable sensor with embedded electronics when the environmental conditions are extreme. Extreme temperatures, pressure or radiation requires precise manufacturing.
